Pick A PRD

Getting into FIEA requires you to choose one of the Portfolio Review Dates (PRD) listed below. Portfolio Review Dates are where we review student portfolios and make early admission decisions. Students are encouraged to submit for the earliest PRD they can.

PRD Dates for Fall 2010

  • December 4, 2009
  • February 19, 2010
  • May 7, 2010
  • July 9, 2010

To qualify for a PRD, at a minimum, you must have

  • Completed an online application (Step 2)
  • Submitted your portfolio (Step 4)
  • Turned in a preliminary or final undergraduate transcript (Step 3). Note: If your transcript lists a GPA below a 3.0, you also need to turn in a GRE score of 1000 or greater before the PRD.

In addition, all programming candidates need to have turned in a GRE score before the PRD deadline, regardless of your undergraduate GPA.

Submit Your Transcripts

There are two ways to submit your transcripts to UCF—electronically or by mail.

  1. To submit your transcripts electronically, you will need to have your university submit an electronic copy of your final transcripts to UCF. Tell your university to use school code 5233-University of Central Florida.
  2. If your school does not allow for electronic submissions, please have your school send the official transcript to the UCF Division of Graduate Studies address located in the "Where To Send Stuff" box.

If you are currently attending or have graduated from UCF, FIEA admissions has direct access to your transcripts, so you don't need to take any steps to send them to us.

Submit Your Portfolio

Portfolio requirements differ based on the track you'd like to follow at FIEA. Based on your intended area of study, submit the following:

  • Programmers: Submit your best source code that you personally created for school projects or side projects on a DVD or CD-R.
  • Artists: Submit the best artwork that you personally created for school projects or side projects on a DVD or CD-R. Technical artists should also include their source code.
  • Producers: Write an analysis of a game you recently played and liked (or didn't like) and what you wish the makers would’ve done differently. Email admissions for a document that further outlines the assignment.

See the Where To Send Stuff box for where you should send your portfolio.

Submit 3 PPI Reports

(Personal Potential Index Reports must be done for any student submitting an application after 11/1/09).

NOTE: If you started the application process before 11/1/09 and have started soliciting letters of recommendation, you should continue to pursue them and not use PPI. For more on the Letters of Recommendations, go here.

To give FIEA a more complete picture of your personality and capabilities, we have decided to implement the Personal Potential Index (PPI) in lieu of Letters of Recommendation.

The PPI provides reliable information in six personal areas that FIEA has indicated are critical for academic success. You select evaluators — typically faculty members or supervisors — to evaluate you on each of these areas and provide an overall rating. Evaluators can also include optional comments. Go here to see a sample PPI.

PPI is completely administered by the Educational Testing Service, the organization that administers the GRE (see Step 6).

You will have to register for the GRE (required for FIEA admission) before you can start the PPI process.

Go to the ETS PPI page to begin the process

  • Click on the “Getting Started” tab and follow the directions
