The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA), a graduate video game development program at the University of Central Florida, will feature new student games and projects at Siggraph 2009 in New Orleans. The projects were all completed this past year at its downtown location, the Center For Emerging Media, and will be on display in Booth #2229.
Student games being demoed in the booth include “Sultans of Scratch,” an innovative rhythm game where you and a partner get to take the role of DJ and dancer and compete against another team in a freestyle battle. The game also includes a unique turntable and mixer controller designed in collaboration with UCF’s computer engineering department.
Other highlighted projects include the action-stealth student game “Drifters” as well as motion capture for “Hannah Montana: The Movie” video game, feature films “The Tenant” and “Just Another Day” and a Gillette national advertising campaign featuring Derek Jeter, Roger Federer and Tiger Woods.
Faculty, staff and students from FIEA will be available in Booth #2229 to demo and comment on any of the projects. Copies of some of the latest student games will also be available and faculty who oversaw the projects will be on hand to discuss their development.
